- musim paling bersejarah dalam sejarah Chelsea apabila Roman Abramovich menjadi OWNER dan pemilik Chelsea pada Jun 2003 .
- Roman tidak membuang masa dengan memberi Ranieri 110 mill pound Transfer Bajet pada Summer 2003 dengan membeli 12 pemain baru !!!!
- Makalele (16 juta pound ) , Joe Cole ( 6.6 juta pound ) , Damien Duff , Hernan Crespo(16.8 juta pound ) dan Adrian Mutu(15.8 juta pound) antara signing2 pertama di zaman Roman .
- Signing paling mahal pada musim tersebut ialah Damien Duff dengan nilai 17 juta pound.
- Musim ini juga Chelsea terpaksa melepaskan LEGEND2 seperti Zola (37 tahun), Albert Ferrer (33 tahun), Graeme LeSaux (35 tahun), Ed de Goey(37tahun) kerana faktor usia dan kehadiran new signing.

- walaupun berumur 30 tahun ketika mula menyertai Chelsea, ( 2 tahun lebih tua dari umur Kante sekarang ) , Makalele masih berjaya menjadi pemain DM terbaik dalam sejarah Chelsea selama 5 musim sehingga umur 35 tahun.
- beliau merevolusi DM role di EPL dengan kebolehan beliau sebagai combative, hard-working, aggressive tackling , ability to read the game, break down play, mark and anticipate opponent, positional sense, energy and ball winning ability, deep lying playmaking ,
( tidak kah ciri2 ini mengingatkan kita pada sumone ? kante anyone ? yes, kante shud be play in makalele role, tetapi disacrifice kan world class ability beliau demi kehadiran weak defensive player seperti Jorginho dan Kovacic.
- kehebatan beliau sehingga Perez pernah mengejek "He wasn't a header of the ball and he rarely passed the ball more than three metres. Younger players will arrive who will cause Makélélé to be forgotten" ketika dijual kepada Chelsea, dan kesudahannya kehilangan Makalele di Real Madrid adalah permulaan kejatuhan Real dan bermula nya renaissance di Chelsea.
